What Does The Bible Say About Religiousness?

Quotes are from the RSV Catholic Edition or the Douay-Rheims

Ecclesiasticus 1:18 – Religiousness shall keep and justify the heart, it shall give joy and gladness.

Daniel 3:90 – O all ye religious, bless the Lord the God of gods: praise him and give him thanks, because his mercy endureth for ever and ever.

1 Timothy 4:7-8 – Have nothing to do with godless and silly myths. Train yourself in godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

James 1:26-27 – If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is vain. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
