Erdogan’s government is becoming more and more Islamic.
Turkey’s president threatened to ‘chop off traitors’ heads’ in a speech one year to the day after hundreds were killed in a failed coup .
Last year’s unprecedented military attempt to overthrow the Turkish government left 290 people dead.
Certainly, in times past, Christian regimes have resorted to beheading as a form of punishment, but it is not a Biblical concept. The Qur’an authorizes beheading in at least two places.
When the Lord inspired the angels (saying) I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger. (8:12)
Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom ’til the war lay down its burdens. (47:4)
I should mention also that the Apostle St. Paul was beheaded by the pagan Roman government. Many thousands of Christians were martyred under the pagan government of Rome, through beheading and otherwise. Beheading is today strictly an Islamic affair with Saudi Arabia being the only country that beheads people as a form of official capital punishment.
Beheading is not specifically mentioned by the Geneva Convention.
