In my estimation, this is clear example of an inability or unwillingness on the part of Islamists to use reason.

From Catholic World News:

Egypt’s Al Azhar University, the world’s leading center of Sunni Islamic thought, has suspended talks with the Vatican in protest over the “insulting remarks” by Pope Benedict XVI—a reference to the Pope’s statement that Egypt should protect Coptic Christians from mob violence.

The Pope’s protest against a massacre in Alexandria was “unacceptable interference” in Egypt’s affairs, a spokesman for Al Azhar said. At a January 20 meeting, the spokesman said, the scholars of Al Azhar decided to break off all talks with the Vatican “indefinitely.”

I wrote here about this same claim made recently from Egypt’s top cleric that the Pope failed to speak out against violence against Muslims in Iraq.

Why does it indicate an inability or unwillingness to use reason? Because even if it were true that the Pope failed to ask for the protection of all the people of Iraq (it isn’t true) the decision above amounts to their deciding not to join with the Pope in any kind of discussion whatsoever about anything whatsoever. That’s not reasonable.
